Phantom's Reckoning

Description

Yeah, this is from, I think, July (I think), but I decided I might as well put it up on dA. It's the cover image for Phantom's Reckoning 1 on FictionPress.net.
When I first finished it I was pretty impressed with myself, and looking at it a few months later, while the face could use a bit of improvment, I'm happy with the shading, it's realistic and stands out, and I like the skinned knees (which I threw in because I had the respective drawing tool for it), it also looks very realistic.
Well, if I want anyone to draw Rain (his name) for me, this is his ref for now. I haven't really decided on his footwear.

This peice is very good but could do with a lot more devolpment... Altogether I like the idea but certain techniques and ways you could use would make this peice a lot better than it already is.
First of all your Rain or the style you used to draw him, could be devolped and made better because I have seen pictures a lot more good than this but I have seen ones a lot worse than this, at the momment I would say you were in the middle. If you practised on paper like once a week at drawing anime then over time your drawing would get better and better.
The technique you used to colour him in well... That could be devoped as well. To me it seems higgldy piggldy, all over the place but practise would help you with that.
Have you ever considered using tutorials when making art, so you can take it that one step further? If not then you should try.
Joining groups is a good way to learn things. You get to see how other people draw things and you can collect inpiration off them.
Over all I like this peice but with a bit more practise this could be really good.
